Water on a screen is an observation

A camera can show standing water, deposits or submerged sections. Those observations alone do not establish the full elevation profile or the cause: a downstream restriction can also retain water. Record conditions before assigning a structural diagnosis.

Ask for location and extent

A useful report identifies the access point, direction, approximate distance, observed limits and whether the line was cleaned. Camera distance is an estimate along the inspected path. A surface locate or elevation assessment may be needed to define an excavation or confirm slope.

Cleaning cannot change a pipe’s slope

Cleaning may remove accumulated material. It does not lift a sagged pipe or correct adverse slope. Whether intervention is appropriate depends on verified condition, recurrence, use and the consequences of another backup.

A repair proposal needs boundaries

Ask which section is affected, how it was identified, what alternative explanations were excluded and how correction will be verified. Compare access, restoration, permits and post-work documentation. Do not accept a complete replacement recommendation from an unexplained still image alone.
